20 students from Pammal to perform at Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park
CHENNAI, July 5: As part of the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park, about 20 students from Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pammal will present a Carnatic music performance this Sunday (July 6) at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore between 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 a.m.

The students will be accompanied by R. Bharadvaj and D.Gopalakrishnan on the mridangam, M. Dhandhapany on the glue and Saravana Pandiyan on the violin.

Sri Sankara Vidyalaya was started in 1983 with an initial strength of 135 students. The school now is a full-fledged higher secondary school with 2,700 students on its rolls in this Silver Jubilee Year. Sri Sankara Vidyalaya imparts character and value-based education blended with modern teaching methods, helping students to develop their total personality.

Launched in February 2006, the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park takes place on the 1st Sunday of every month between 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 a.m. and is open for children below 15 years. Mikes and speakers are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Sundaram Finance’s audition committee conducts an audition to finalise the artistes.

The aim of the Sunday Kutcheri in the park is to provide a launch pad for young musical talent.
