Bharaitya Sangeetha Vaibhavam is to celebrate Muttuswami Dikshitar with a grand Akhandam on February 28 in Chennai
CHENNAI, February 16: Bharaitya Sangeetha Vaibhavam, a trust devoted to the preservation, perpetuation and propagation of Carnatic music, is set to celebrate Muttuswami Dikshitar with a grand Akhandam – 12 hours of virtually non-stop rendition of the master’s compositions by popular and upcoming artistes. The event will be held on February 28 at Sivagami Pettachi Auditorium, MCTM School, Alwarpet, Chennai. It will begin at 9 a.m. The guests of honour will be Sangeetha Kalanidhi Prof. T.N.Krishnan; Shri. Krishnaswamy, Secretary, Narada Gana Sabha; and Cleveland Shri. V.V.Sundaram. Music concerts will start from 09:20 a.m. onwards

I attended a good part of this programme. Heard and enjoyed about 50 kritis of the inimitable composer-saint-scholar. The musicians rendered the pieces with great devotion. On the whole, it was a fitting musical homage to Dikshitar.
