ABHAI to hold special summer workshop in Melattur from May 19
CHENNAI, March 31: The Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India (ABHAI) is planning to offer its members a rare opportunity to learn two Bhagavata Mela darus from the doyen of Bhagavata Mela Kalaimamani Natya Kalanidhi Shri S. Natarajan and his assistants in a rustic ambience at Melattur village near Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. The programme will begin on May 19 and last till May 23.

The Presidednt of ABHAI, Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, will also be present for some sessions explaining the link between Natya Sastra and Bhagavata Mela. The participants will also have a chance to perform at the Bhagavata Mela festival as a part of ABHAI’s presentation on the night of Friday, 21st May.

The workshop sessions will be in the forenoon. There will be enough time to visit some nearby temples in the early evenings, says a release from ABHAI. The performances will be as follows:
