Shanta Dhananjayan to be the convenor of
Natya Kala meet
CHENNAI, May 1: The 30th Naatya Kala conference of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha this year will begin here on December 26. It will last till December 31. Bharatanatyam guru Shanta Dhananjayan will be convenor of this year's conference.

This year's conference will focus on the Abhyaasa-Sampradaya (evolutionary developments in the last century), culminating in today's repertoire and presentation of the five major systems of traditional Naatya -Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Kathak. Each deliberation will be led by a living legendary acharya.

Each day is devoted to one style, which will focus on educating and enlightening the commoner and connoisseur to appreciate these performing art forms in greater depth.

On the concluding day (December 31), the whole session will focus on funding classical arts and how to go about getting funds. Representatives from Government funding bodies, corporates and sabhas are expected to talk on assorted aspects of funding the art.

Individuals, organized groups, institutions are required to register themselves as conference delegates to facilitate designated seat allotments and participate in the discussions and get free refreshments, says a release from the sabha. Request applications with full details of names /addresses /contact phones, email IDs and number of participants from each school or institutions should reach the convener latest by August 31, the release adds.
