A fulfilling concert
CHENNAI, December 25: Her concerts always leave you with a sense of fulfillment - 'Paripurna Trupthi". This concert was yet another gem from this supremely talented, and consistent musician.

Giving a concert for The Music Academy on December 25, Sudha Ragunathan aptly chose the theme around Lord Narayana on the very auspicious day of `Vaikunta Ekadasi'.

The initial songs such as ``Sri Ranga Pura Vihara'' in Brindavana Saranga and ``Narayana Ninne Namada Smarane'' set the tempo. These were followed by a splendid ``O Ranga Sayee Pilichite'' in Khamboji. The Neraval on ``Bhooloka Vaikunta'' was bliss for the audience. It was marked for her mastery of the raga. And, she delivered it to perfection.

If one thought her higher octaves and kalpanaswarams are amazing, ``Guruvayurappane Appan'' showcased her versatility with the base swaras as well.

The piece de resistance was ``Narayana Mukunda''. It was a clear testimony to why she rules the Carnatic music world, preserving its rich and original tradition.

Sudha Ragunathan has the unique ability to bring out unexpected nuances without histrionics. Example was ``Maravene Ennaallilume'', a traditional piece with an unexpected twist towards the end of the song. She ended the concert with an Abhang, ``Maaje Mahe Pandari'', effortlessly rendering perfection, song after song!
